Palestine-Wheatley varsity teams run at Panther Relays

The P-W Patriot and Lady Patriot track teams competed Thursday at the Panther Relays held at Heber Springs.

The Patriots, behind six, top 10 finishes ended the meet in 16th place. Mountain Home won the boys side of the meet, while Greenbrier finished second and Batesville ran third.

Aiden Harlin ran fourth in the 400-meter sprint while teammate Kyle Wright finished ninth. All four P-W relay teams recorded top 10 finishes. The 400-meter team and the twomile team each ran ninth, while the 800-meter and mile relay teams finished fifth.

Pcaylin Carter ran 19th in the 100-meter dash while Jylan Peoples finished 21st. Carter ran to a 19th place finish in the 200-meter dash with Camron Medley finishing 18th overall.

In the 800-meter run, Eli Cook ran 23rd and Kenny Elliott finished 29th. Harlin ran 30th in the mile run with Mel Van Der Spuy finishing 37th. Austin Weddington was 14th in the two-mile run while Cook finished 15th.

Elijah Goodall was 11th in the 110-meter hurdles with Cook running 13th. Jacob Weddington and Austin Weddington ran 15th and 21st respective­ly in the 300-meter hurdles.

In the field events, Medley was 22nd in the long jump with an effort of 17 feet while Jacob Weddington had a leap of more than 16 feet to finish 26th. Cook finished 25th out of 42 entrants in the triple jump.

Jalen French was 19th in the discus, Jonathan Tipler 26th in the shot put and Nicholas Thompson 34th.

Varsity Girls

The Lady Patriots were not able to record a top 10 finish in their side of the Panthers Relays but did get close with a pair of 11th place finishes, Brandi Nelson in the shot put and the two-mile relay team.

Kaylee Jo Long ran to a 12th place finish in the 300-meter hurdles.

In the sprints, Sara Beth Gaines ran 19th in the 200meter dash and finished 18th in the 400-meter event, while Jillian Mallard ran 20th.

In the distance events, Billee Young finished 24th in the 800-meter run and 26th in the mile run, while Long finished 23rd.

Nelson was 16th in the discus with a toss of more than 61 feet, while Mallard was 24th.

Mountain Home won the meet with 146 points, while Harding Academy ran second and Greenbrier finishing third.
