Tolise Thomas Guyton (1961-2021)

Tolise Thomas Guyton was born in Forrest City on Jan. 9, 1961, to Ruthie Mae Thomas Williams and William Henry Jones.

Tolise worked several jobs, including Crestpark Retirement Inn and the Forrest City School District as in-school suspension instructor. She enjoyed reading, cooking, exercising and caring for her grandbabie­s.

She was a strong, intelligen­t and faithful woman, devoted wife, mother and grandmothe­r. Her energy radiated and warmed the people around her.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Cornerston­e Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Leon Sims.

Steven met and fell in love with Tolise during high school. The couple spent 41 years together, marrying on Jan. 9, 1991.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruthie Mae Thomas Williams and William Henry Jones, and a sister, Granette Johnson Patterson.

Tolise passed away peacefully at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital on Saturday, April 3, 2021, with her family members by her side. Her family and friends she cherished will miss her dearly. She had great strength, compassion and a loving heart.

Tolise is survived by her husband, Steven E. Guyton; children, Kendrick K. Thomas and Raven Thomas, both of Arkansas and Sylvia (Ramon) Valdez of California; three brothers, James Thomas of Little Rock, William Jones of Memphis and Michael Mosby of Atlanta; three sisters, Louretha Jackson and Diane Deere, both of Hannibal, Mo., and Sybil James of Olive Branch, Miss.; 11 grandchild­ren and a host of nieces, greatniece­s, nephews, greatnephe­ws and host of other relatives and friends.

There will be a family and friends gathering for Mrs. Tolise Thomas Guyton, age 60, of Forrest City, at Miles J. Kimble Mortuary & Cremation on Saturday, April 10, from 2 to 3 p.m.

Miles J. Kimble Mortuary & Cremation is in charge of arrangemen­ts.
