Lady Patriots top Lady Bears 20-2

Gentry Bass and Emmaleigh Spencer combined to help power the Palestine-Wheatley Lady Patriots to a one-sided 20-2 win over Barton in a nonconfere­nce softball game played Thursday on the Lady Bears field.

Spencer and Bass, batting second and third in the Lady Patriots lineup, combined to score seven runs and drove in six runs. Spencer had a 3 for 4 day at the plate while Bass was two for three with four RBIs.

Shelby Fowler and Kayleigh Anderson scored three runs each to aid in the Lady Patriots win while Allie Parson, Anna Knowlton and Anne French scored two runs each.

Bass drove in runs on a walk in the second, a single in the third, and a double in the third.

The Lady Patriots secured the victory using a 12-run in third inning after scoring a single run in the first inning and adding seven runs in the second inning.

P-W's 12-run third, was powered by French and Anderson, doubles by Spencer and Bass, a triple by Parson, and singles by Bass and Hooker.

Hanna Hooker was in the pitcher's circle for PalestineW­heatley working three innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out one and walking zero.

Barton pitching gave up the 20 P-W runs on 11 hits over three innings. Barton committed 10 errors in the game.

The Episcopal Wildcats fell behind early and suffered an 8-1 loss to Central Arkansas Christian in a 3A-6 softball conference game played Thursday.

Central Arkansas Christian scored on a double by Karson Richard and a double by Spencer Wall in the first inning.

Central Arkansas Christian took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and scored three runs in the sixth inning.

Richard was the winning pitcher for Central Arkansas Christian. The ace surrendere­d one run on two hits over seven innings, striking out 17 and walking one.

CAC defeated PalestineW­heatley in a game played Monday.
