Police: Man found shot inside home is city’s fifth homicide

-

Forrest City recorded its fifth murder of the year earlier today when a man was found shot to death inside his home.

According to the Forrest City Police Department, Larry Hatton, 67, was pronounced dead at his residence at 216 W. South St., in Forrest City.

About 1:40 a.m., a relative discovered Hatton’s body and notified police.

FCPD Chief Deon Lee said the structure showed no signs of a forced entry.

Lee said officers are following up on leads today as the investigation continues.

Last Thursday night, the city recorded its fourth murder when a 20-year-old Marianna man was shot to death outside an apartment in the Grobmyer Circle public housing complex.

Lee said officers have not yet made an arrest in the murder of Nicholas Green, but the investigation is progressing.

Since late February, three other murders have taken place in the city.

On Feb. 27, Demetrius Bernard Tripp, 31, died of a gunshot wound to the chest during an altercation at the Chapel Ridge Apartment Complex. On March 19, Jimmie Rogers, 28, died of stab wounds he received during an altercation at a residence on Albert Street, and in late April, Deontre Tyrell Coulter, 25, died from a gunshot wound he suffered during an April 11 altercation at an apartment on Kittle Road.

Anyone with information on any of these murders is asked to contact the FCPD at 870-6333434.
