Former P-W teacher/coach finalist for superintendent of Hope schools

-

Jonathan Wayne Crossley, a former Palestine-Wheatley teacher and coach, has been offered the chance to become the Hope School District's superintendent.

Crossley began his career as a teacher and basketball coach with the Palestine-Wheatley School District in east Arkansas, where he worked from 2010-15, teaching high school English and oral communications.

Crossley coached basketball at P-W from 2010 through the 2013 season and was named the Arkansas Teacher of the Year in 2014.

Crossley coached the P-W junior and senior girls basketball teams.

If he accepts the Hope offer, Crossley would begin working in the Hope School District starting July 1.

Crossley, 33, is now serving as assistant superintendent of the Pine Bluff School District.

In 2015, he became Baseline Elementary School principal in southwest Little Rock and a leadership fellow in the Little Rock School District and in 2018, Crossley became a consultant for the Office of Coordinated Support and Service in the Pine Bluff School District.

Crossley, a South Carolina native, entered the teaching field at Palestine-Wheatley through the Teach for America program.

He is one of four finalists for the Hope School District position.

Former Palestine-Wheatley and Cross County teacher and coach, Tommy Wells, is an assistant principal with the Hot Springs School District and Palestine-Wheatley graduate and coach Ryan Halbert resigned recently to accept an assistant principal position with Drew Central High School in Monticello.
