22 teams combine to make EACC tournament successful

Matt Howton won back-toback golf tournament titles over the weekend.

On Sunday, Howton, a former Forrest City Mustang and ASU golfer teamed with Bono's CJ Imboden to win the two-man golf scramble tournament played Saturday and Sunday at Forrest City Country Club.

Howton and Imboden shot a two-day 121 total to win the championsh­ip flight and the tournament title.

On Monday, Howton teamed with another former Forrest City Mustang, Cody Flowers, along with Aaron Owens and Brian Wilson to win the EACC Golf Tournament, also played at Forrest City Country Club.

The quartet combined to post a final 56 score to win first place in the Championsh­ip Flight, edging the second place team of Kyle Baskins, Jay Caldwell, Kyle

Schlenker and Timmy Sisk, who finished their round two strokes back at 58.

Matt Doss, Drew Flowers, Chad Halbert and Frans Van der Linde finished third, also posting a final 58 score.

The final three teams in the championsh­ip flight each brought in a final score of 60.

The top three teams in the First Flight each finished with a 61. Following a card off to break the three-way tie, the team of Margie Cannon, Sid Fogg, Tommy Hanner and Terry Hutcherson claimed first place.

Second place in the First Flight went to the team of Joey Astin, former Forrest City Mustang and Arkansas Razorback Barrett Astin, Sawyer Ramsey and Justin Reeves.

Zack Davis, Hunter Green, Dustin Hudson and Zach Price took third place following the card off.

First place in the Second Flight went to the team of King Casbeer, Don Mills, Pete Moery and C.C. Perry, who brought in a final round score of 66, holding off the team of Lance Gray, Jake Haralson, Jeremy Henson and Tyrone Nash, who finished one stroke back at 67, good enough for second place.

Lowry Astin, Vince Billingsle­y, Chris McManners and Rich Trail finished with a 67 to finish third in the flight.

Chad Halbert of Wynne was the final qualifier for the $5,000 putt. He won an Igloo cooler, courtesy of Caldwell Lumber.

Proceeds from the 10th annual EACC tournament will benefit the EACC Foundation. The tournament was sponsored by Johnson Controls, Arkansas Concrete Company, Boar's Head and Forrest City Medical Center.
