FCMC revamps weight-loss and wellness competition

-

Forrest City Medical Center is planning to once again host a weight-loss and wellness competition.

The hospital plans to begin its newly-revamped competition, Mission Slimpossible, on Tuesday, July 6.

“We are thrilled to be hosting this competition again,” said Caitlyn Sweet, FCMC Marketing Director. “We weren’t able to do it last year due to Covid-19. We are happy to be in a position now to invite the community back in and host interactive programs that encourage healthy lifestyle choices.

“There have been a couple of changes this year,” continued Sweet. “Those who are familiar with this competition know it has usually been at the start of the new year. Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible in January. Now that it is, we just couldn’t wait that long to welcome everyone back and get started.

“We have also moved away from the company that has helped us manage the competition in the past. This year, the entire competition will be managed in-house, and 100 percent of the entry fees will go into the cash prizes for the top three teams at the end of the competition,” explained Sweet.

The 12-week competition will begin with registration and a mandatory initial weigh-in for all four-person teams. The weigh-in will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 6, in hospital’s inservice classroom.

The entry cost is $20 per person. Optional weigh-ins will be held on Aug. 2 and Sept. 30 for teams interested in tracking their progress more closely. A final, mandatory weigh-in will be held on Friday, Sept. 17, and the winners will be announced on Monday, Sept. 20.

The top three teams will be determined based on total loss of body fat percentage. All team members must be present at the first and last weigh in to be eligible for prizes, according to Sweet.

“We want people to make healthy choices when losing weight or starting any diet or exercise program,” said Sweet. “We will have weekly emails with information from our local health providers that are meant to help participants along the way. We hope our participants will make the best decisions for them and their own health.”

Participants must be 18 years of age or older to enter the competition. Forrest City Medical Center encourages those with existing health conditions to consult their primary care provider before making major changes to their daily diet and exercise routines.

“If you are interested in participating, but need help
