Taroya LaWanda ‘Tuffy’ Houston (1972-2021)

Ms. Taroya LaWanda “Tuffy” Houston was born Nov. 14, 1972, in Forrest City, to Willie McKinney and Louvenia Houston, both of whom preceded her in death, along with her sister, Venus Latrice Houston.

“Tuffy,” as she was affectiona­tely known, professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined Stanley Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained a member until her death. Tuffy was a 1991 graduate of Forrest City High School.

She was employed with Forrest City Medical Center Housekeepi­ng for over nine years.

On June 25, 2021, she was called to take Heavenly rest. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She enjoyed life to the fullest, but sharing her time and love with her children and grandchild­ren was her joy.

She leaves to cherish her memory four children, two daughters, Jasmine Houston and Natasha Houston, both of Forrest City and two sons, Daramie Houston (Atavia) of Wynne and Terrance Houston (Kayla Hughes) of Forrest City; seven grandchild­ren whom she loved dearly, Drelyn Hunter, Jamyla Hunter, Jayden Phillips, Kameron Houston, Malayiah Marrs, Ky’Ree Houston and Kyair Houston. She also leaves three brothers, Abner “Bootsy” Houston (Fannie) of Caldwell, Aaron “Poochie” Houston (Deloris) and Allen “Hot” McKinney of Colt; two sisters, Schnell Leak of Palestine and Doris Banks of Colt. She also leaves a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends, including a very special friend, Troy Hurn.

Visitation will be Friday, July 2, 2021, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Stanley Grove M.B. Church.

The funeral service for Lawanda “Tuffy” Houston, 48, of Forrest City will be Saturday, July 3, 2021, at noon at the Stanley Grove M.B. Church with Pastor Anthony Lewellen delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow at Stanley Grove Cemetery.

Miles Mortuary is in charge of arrangemen­ts.
