County schedules shot clinic in Colt
St. Francis County Judge Gary Hughes is working in conjunction with the St. Francis County Health Department to bring vaccination clinics to smaller communities within the county.
"We have been working on this over the last couple of days," said Hughes. "Colt was the first community to agree to host a clinic."
The clinic in Colt is scheduled for Tuesday, July 27, from 3 until 5 p.m., at the Colt Community Center.
"We are working with the health department, trying to identify communities that may not have had a vaccination clinic in their area,” said Hughes. "We are excited we have this one set up in Colt for those who may not have access or a way to get to Forrest City. This will be closer to home to allow them to get a vaccination."
Those wanting to get vaccinated should bring have insurance cards when attending the clinic.
Hughes said he hopes the Colt clinic will be just one of many to be held in smaller communities. He also said the health department is focusing on communities where there is limited access to the vaccinations.
"We have a lot of towns that are covered for vaccinations due to having a pharmacy in that town or in that community," said Hughes. "But, those who don't already have a way to get a vaccination
(Continued from Page 1) in that community, we are going to try and get the health department to go out to those communities so they'll have more access to get a vaccine.
"We want to make sure everybody has an opportunity to do that," added Hughes.
Hughes said while plans have only been finalized for Colt, the county is also in communications with Wheatley, Hughes, Widener and Caldwell for possible vaccination clinics in those communities.
"We are waiting to hear back from some of those, and once we do, we will try and get some of those scheduled," said Hughes.
Hughes added, however, that any St. Francis County resident who wants to receive a vaccination is welcome to attend the clinic in Colt or call the health department at any time to schedule an appointment.
