Equilla B. Simmons
Mrs. Equilla B. Simmons entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 6, 2021, at River Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Wynne. Equilla was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved flowers and had a great sense of humor.
Mrs. Simmons accepted Jehovah God and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1984. She remained faithful to God until death. She displayed deep love for Jehovah through the course of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Simmons; her mother, Hattie Rogers; a sister, Ann Brown; a brother, Omechus Woods; daughters, Sherry Rhodes and Kathleen Goodwin; greatgrandsons, Christopher Hull and Amaniel Gaines Jr.; and great-granddaughters, Lauren Golatt and DeShawni Townsend.
Mrs. Simmons leaves to cherish her memories seven children, Michael (Sharon) Miller, Jacquelyn Holmes, Linda (Stanley) Johnson, Kimberly (Rubin) Ivey and Shawn (Ashley) Galloway, all of Forrest City; Robert (Sandy) Galloway and Pamela Johnson, all of Lafayette, Ind.; special grandson, Daryl (Lisa) Hull of Sherwood; six brothers, Otha (Tyniah) Woods of South Orange, N.J., William (Ann) Rogers of San Antonio, Texas, John (Carolyn) Rogers of Monterey Park, Calif., Joe (Phyllis) Rogers of Pomona,
Calif., Bruce Rogers of Altadena, Calif., Clifford (Beverely) Rogers of East Orange, N.J.; a sister, LaRita (Joseph) Barnett of Altadena, Calif.; and a sister-in-law, Margie Woods of Buffalo, N.Y.
She also leaves a host of grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and very dear and caring neighbors, Karrie and Tina Barden, Tony and Stephanie Goodwin and Lisa Roebuck White.
Visitation will be Friday, July 23, 2021, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Miles Mortuary.
The funeral service for Equilla Galloway Simmons, of Forrest City, will be Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 11 a.m., at the Forrest City Civic Center, with Bro. Floyd Stokes delivering the discourse. Burial will follow at Forrest Park Cemetery, under the direction of Miles Mortuary.
