Dorothy Cochran Patton (1950-2021)

Dorothy Cochran Patton was born Oct. 6, 1950, to the union of Frank Cochran and Minnie Mae Babbs Cochran in Forrest City. She was the fifth of eight children. Dorothy was added to the Church of Christ as a youth in Forrest City.

Dorothy attended Stewart Elementary School and Lincoln Senior High School, Class of 1968 in Forrest City. She earned a diploma from Draughon School of Business in Little Rock and attended Henderson State University in Arkadelphi­a. Dorothy worked at GI Manufactur­ing Company in Forrest City, University Hospital and Westinghou­se Lighting in Little Rock.

On Aug. 28, 1972, Dorothy married Vernon H. Patton in Forrest City, and to this union one child was born, Carlo Amillion Patton. Later, her stepson whom she loved dearly as her own, Vernon Lorenzo Hughes, joined them in Little Rock. Dorothy loved her family. Annual Cochran family gatherings were very important to her.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, Carlo Amillion Patton; her parents, Frank and Minnie Mae Babbs Cochran and three brothers, Arthur Theodis Cochran Sr., Frank Cochran III, and Curtis Cochran Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Vernon Lorenzo Hughes of Rockford, Ill.; two brothers, George (Knosurer) Cochran Sr., of Forrest City and Leodis (Cathy) Cochran of Little Rock; two sisters, Ruthie Mae Cochran West and Minnie Ruth Cochran Sanford, both of Little Rock; four sisters-in-law, Rosetta Conway Cochran and Connie Gates Cochran (Theodis’ widow), both of Forrest City, Shellen Forrest Cochran (Frank’s widow) of Chicago, Ill., and Shirley Conway Cochran (Curtis’ widow) of West Memphis; three grandchild­ren, five greatgrand­children and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and special neighbors, Annie, Calvin and Pearl.

Visitation was held today, from noon to 2 p.m., at Paradise in Little Rock.

The funeral service for Dorothy Mae Cochran Patton, 70, of Little Rock, formerly of Forrest City, was held at 2 p.m., today, Monday, July 26, 2021, in the chapel of Paradise in Little Rock with Brother Louis Smith delivering the eulogy. Burial was at Rest in Peace Cemetery in Hensley.

Miles Mortuary was in charge of arrangemen­ts.
