Lily S. Chu (1923-2021)

Lily S. Chu, age 97, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021, at her daughter's home in Germantown, Tenn. She had been in poor health for the past year.

Mrs. Chu was born Aug. 30, 1923, in Portland, Ore., and was the daughter of Fook Yee Seid and Lim Choy Lum Seid. She lived most of her life in Forrest City, was best known for working with her husband at Standard Jewelers, was a member and leader of the P.A.C.E. senior citizens exercise class, and attended the Chinese Baptist Church in Memphis.

Mrs. Chu married Foon 'Frank' Chu in 1941, and he preceded her in death in 2019. She was also preceded in death by three siblings, June Seid, Jane Seid Wong and Bing Seid.

She is survived by five daughters, Sonya Chu Mau (Ben, deceased), of Normal, Ill., Susan Chu Chow and husband, Dennis, of Miami, Fla., Sandra Chu Chow and husband, Sam, of Clarksdale, Miss., Edith Chu of New York, N.Y., and Carol Chu of Chicago, Ill.; one sister, Annie Chu of Germantown, Tenn.; three grandchild­ren, Matthew Chow, Meredith Chow and Christophe­r Chow, and four great-grandchild­ren, Brandon Chow, Preston Chow, Avery Chow and Abigail Chow.

Due to Covid, services for Mrs. Chu will be private. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangemen­ts.
