Hill Records of U of A hosts Nov. 9 artist showcase at George’s Majestic

Hill Records, University of Arkansas’ student-run record label, will host its debut showcase at George’s Majestic Lounge in Fayettevil­le at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9. This allages event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 7 p.m.

The showcase features three local acts that were handselect­ed by the Hill Records team following their spring 2020 submission call: Pat Ryan Key, Foxpaw and H3ADCANNON.

Award-winning songwriter and record producer Pat Ryan Key showcases a unique blend of “funky Muscle Shoals groove, Stax Records soul and Northwest Arkansas roots,” per Sean Clancy of The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Key credits authentici­ty as his driving force, exhibiting a “variety of music flavor profiles [that] keeps the listener engaged,” according to The Brain Drain Ditch.

Foxpaw, the alternativ­e folk solo project orchestrat­ed by songwriter, performer, and producer Chandler B., aims to sonically recount years of exploratio­n throughout the southern United States. Foxpaw invites listeners to share in vivid representa­tions and memories of diverse landscapes to create an intimate listening space.

Sam Byrd and Dyl Wil of H3ADCANNON declare their music to be “wildly inventive and high energy, inspired by Max Martin, Brittney Spears and Elton John. It teems with electropop production, metalcore breaks, and pop punk vocals for a fresh new sound.”

Hill Records is a student-run record label and entertainm­ent project at the University of Arkansas. This cutting-edge initiative combines music industry pedagogy, entreprene­urial learning, and audio research into integrated, cross-disciplina­ry experience­s.
