Holiday light show kicks off at the Little Rock Zoo

-

The Little Rock Zoo has opened GloWild, a new largerthan-life holiday light show on its grounds. Brought to the Zoo in collaboration with the Arkansas Zoological Foundation (AZF) and presented by the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission (KAB), Arkansans across the state are invited to come and enjoy the state’s firstof-its-kind light show experience from 5 – 9 p.m. on weekdays and 5 –10 p.m. on weekends on select nights through Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022.

“We are thrilled to open this unique, expansive and immersive light experience in Arkansas,”said Little Rock Zoo Director Susan Altrui. “Arkansans are invited to enjoy the wonders of nature during this larger-than-light holiday light show brought to us by our presenting sponsor Keep Arkansas Beautiful and other incredible sponsors, like the AZF. Because of these valuable partnerships, we have been able to bring fresh and exciting opportunities to encourage conservation across the state.”

This outdoor light experience will cover the Zoo grounds as Little Rock’s premier light festival featuring more than 30 lighted displays.

“As we continually find new and exciting ways to engage with Arkansas youth, Keep Arkansas Beautiful is thrilled to partner with the Zoo to debut this outdoor light experience,” said Mark Camp, executive director of KAB. “GloWild is a great opportunity for children and parents across the state to learn about the important role keeping Arkansas clean, green and litter-free plays in improving our communities.”

GloWild will include zoo animals and marine animals. Interactive and photo opportunity displays will include angel wings, light-up walking stars, as well as a bubbling crab, a moving whale and a lit peacock. Guests can expect to see and interact with over 30 oversized illuminated displays made of thousands of silk-covered pieces lit by over 50,000 LED light bulbs. The Zoo will be transformed into a bright, mythical wonderland with animals and wildlife that will transport guests to imaginary worlds far away.

GloWild is in partnership with Tianyu Arts & Culture, an international event design company.

Tianyu has produced 42 lantern events in 24 cities welcoming over 3 million visitors. The Arkansas Zoological Foundation (AZF), a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the Little Rock Zoo, is also a sponsor of GloWild. They are the founding sponsor of the event, allowing the Zoo to bring the event to the State of Arkansas for its debut.

Guests can enjoy GloWild on select nights now through Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, from 5 – 9 p.m. on weekdays and 5 – 10 p.m. on weekends.
