FC teen robbed; suspect later arrested

-

A Forrest City man was arrested Sunday evening after allegedly robbing a teenager at a local carwash.

The 17-year-old told officers with the Forrest City Police Department that he went to Scrubbles on North Washington about 4:30 p.m., to vacuum his vehicle, when Davion Smith reportedly called him over to his car, a white 2012 Dodge Challenger, asking for gas money. The teen told officers that as he pulled money out of his pocket, Smith, who was sitting in his vehicle, pointed a tan gun at him and took the teen’s $240 before leaving, traveling south on Division Street.

A short time later, the teenager called police to report that Smith, 20, 152 E. Oak St., Forrest City, was in the drivethrough at Sonic.

After officers stopped Smith’s vehicle, they reportedly noticed a strong odor of marijuana and saw two bags of the substance inside the vehicle. They also found a tan and black Taurus GC2 .40 caliber weapon containing five rounds and a set of brass knuckles.

According to police, although the victim claimed to have been robbed of $240, only $183 was in Smith’s possession when he was arrested.

Smith is charged with aggravated robbery, possession of a controlled substance, criminal use of prohibited weapons and carrying a weapon.

The FCPD is also investigating three complaints filed over the weekend regarding shots being fired, but reportedly no injuries.

On Friday morning, a man told police he was driving west on West Buford, near the railroad tracks, when he recognized the driver of a vehicle traveling in his direction. He told officers he rolled his window down to speak with the driver when he noticed the man pointing a gun at him.

The victim told police he sped away, abandoning his vehicle on Buford Street before running behind some houses in the area seeking help.

Officers found two bullet holes in the victim’s 2001 Mercury Marquis, but reportedly found no shell casings and said the man was not injured in the incident.

Friday night, a teenager who lives in Turner Circle, told police she was visiting at an apartment in Grobmyer Circle when her 41year-old ex-boyfriend drove up, telling her to leave.

After refusing to leave, the teen told officers the suspect shot the window out of a car and pointed the gun at her.

On Sunday night, a resident in the 1900 block of Lindauer Road reported numerous gunshots fired near his residence.

The man told police he was unsure if the suspect had been outside firing shots into the air or shooting at their home, but the shots came from nearby apartments.

According to the report, the family was getting the children ready for bed when they heard seven or eight gunshots outside their residence before going outside “to look” around.
