The Forrest City School Board has approved five zones from which board members will be elected during the next election.

During a meeting Thursday evening, the board voted to amend its resolution to change board positions from seven atlarge positions to five zoned positions with two at-large seats to include a zoning map based on a map provided to the district by EFS Geo Technologies.

Superintendent Dr. Tiffany Hardrick told the board the company worked closely with the Great Rivers Educational Coop before recommending the amendment to include five school board zones with two atlarge positions.

"So, we can have two positions run at-large as identified in the zone map," explained Hardrick.

A copy of the map approved by the board can be found on Page 8 of today’s Times-Herald.

In other business, the board also approved security improvements for the field house and Mustang Arena to include the same code and buzz-in safety features as other buildings on campuses throughout the district.

"We are hoping to possibly pay for this with our ESSER funds," said Hardrick. "If we can't use ESSER funds, we do have the funding in the district due to savings in operations this year."

The board also approved several student transfers for the district.

Three students from the same family asked to return to the FCSD from Palestine-Wheatley. Four students asked to transfer into the PW School District, and one sought a transfer to the Wynne School District.

All transfers requires the corresponding districts to accept the transfers before being finalized.

Board president Sandra Taylor also reminded board members that Hardrick's annual review is scheduled for January and they should make sure to check emails for the evaluation form to complete before the next board meeting on Jan. 20.

Hardrick also reported that the district's first student in the new CDL program is quickly on track to become the first high school student in the state to earn his CDL license

"He now has his permit," Hardrick told board members. "His driving portion of the test will be at the end of January."

Hardrick also reminded the board that the district’s Family Resource Center is now open for families in need.

"If you know of any of our district’s families who have needs, please have them contact the Resource Center," said Hardrick.
