Episcopal pulls away for win over P-W Patriots

The Episcopal Wildcats trailed Palestine-Wheatley 4-2 early in Monday's game but were able to overcome the deficit scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 5-4 lead, they would not relinquish on the way to a 9-4 win.

Palestine-Wheatley scored four times in the top of the fourth inning, but Episcopal plated three runs in the fourth and four in the fifth inning to help secure the win.

Palestine-Wheatley's big inning was aided by a walk by Austin Varner, a single by Conner Teal, and an RBI groundout.

Episcopal pulled away for good with three runs in the fourth inning when Cole Scifres singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run and Charlie Moore doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.

The Wildcats' four-run, fifth inning was fueled by Lance Viscioni-Wilson, Scifres, and Thomas Priebe, all driving in runs. Moore had two of Episcopal's five RBIs.

Ramsey Jennings was the winning pitcher for the Wildcats, working three and a third innings without giving up a P-W run allowing just two hits and no runs while striking out five and walking one.

Hunter Grumbles started for Episcopal going three and twothirds innings, before giuving way to jennings.

Hunter Hill got the start and absorbed the loss for PalestineW­heatley. Hill went four and a third innings, giving up eight runs on six hits and three walks, while striking out six Wildcat hitters.

Teal, Jared Cook, Jacob Hickman and Varner accouted for the P-W hits.

Palestine-Wheatley is scheduled to host Beebe for a varsity/junior varsity doublehead­er on Thursday at the Palestine Sports Complex and Lonoke on Friday.

••••• Weather permitting, Forrest City will host Wynne today for a varsity conference doublehead­er beginning at 4:30 at the Sports Complex.

The Mustangs will make the trip to Blythevill­e on Thursday prior to next week's Spring Break week.
