Andrew J. Diggs Sr., 77, the son of the late Inez Woodard, was born Sept. 3, 1944, in Forrest City.

He entered into eternal rest, peacefully on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Andrew’s early education was in the Forrest City Public Schools. Upon graduating from Forrest City Lincoln High School, he enlisted in the United States Army (1963). After completion of his enlistment in the Army, he relocated to Virginia.

Andrew, in his pastime loved spending time with his family, friends and especially his grandchild­ren whom affectiona­tely called him “Daddi” and “Granndaa.”

His hobbies included fishing. He also enjoyed long walks, watching Westerns, meditating, his long naps, eating, stopping through his favorite casinos and traveling.

Andrew was preceded in death by his mother, Inez Woodard, and siblings, Ora Wade and Lillian Bradley.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Diana Diggs of Newport News; daughters, Crystal Diggs and Corrine Diggs, both of Hampton and Quinissa Diggs of Newport News; two sons, Andrew J. Diggs Jr., of Hampton and Travis Diggs of Newport News; grandchild­ren,

Ariannah, Christian, Christophe­r, Quincy, Jaesaun and Lon’dyn; siblings, Cornelia Flenoir, Daniell Poole (Ella), Barbara Brown, Benjamin Woodard (Bertha), Janie Woodard, Rickey Woodard (Rosetta), Bernard Woodard, Sandra McCoy (Dennis) and Willie Woodard, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A memorial service for Andrew J. Diggs, 77, of Virginia, formerly of Forrest City, will be Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 11 a.m., at Summerfiel­d Missionary Baptist Church with Minister Rickey Woodard delivering the eulogy.

Miles Mortuary of Forrest City is in charge of arrangemen­ts.
