Central Ark. Christian breaks through for 5-1 win over Palestine-Wheatley

Palestine-Wheatley and CAC worked through three scoreless innings Monday before plating the first run in their scheduled varsity girl's softball game.

Central Arkansas Christian broke through in the bottom of the fourth to plate two runs and held on to take a 5-1 win over the Lady Patriots in a varsity softball game played at Little Rock.

CAC pitcher Brooklyn White held the Lady Patriots to one run on two hits over seven innings, striking out 13 on the way to earning the game victory.

White also helped offensivel­y, hitting a home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to extend the Lady Mustangs lead to 4-0.

Hanna Hooker got the start in the pitcher's circle for PalestineW­heatley, allowing four runs on five hits over four innings, striking out three. In relief, Sara Kate Anderson threw one and twothirds innings.

Aniya Quattlebau­m, White, Ella Blakely, Elizabeth Colclasure, Ashton Wilbanks, Hannah Edington, and Kindle Walker each came through with base hits for the Lady Mustangs.

Palestine-Wheatley had base hits from Anderson and Lexi Roberts with Anderson scoring the lone P-W run in the game coming in the top of the seventh inning.

Anderson came around to score after connecting for a hard double to right field and advanced to third on a groundout by Emmaleigh Spencer. That brought Roberts to the plate, who drove in Anderson with a double to right field.

••••• Playing on the road at Blythevill­e, the Forrest City Lady Mustangs found themselves in 130 hole after the first inning against the Lady Chickasaws, which led to an eventual 22-11 lead after two innings and the final 30-14 victory in three innings.

The Lady Mustangs plated 10 runs in the first innings, one in the second and added three in the third inning.

Sophomore Kentasia Chism got the pitching start for the Lady Mustangs and worked all three innings absorbing the loss.

Kelsei Suggs scored three runs to lead the Lady Mustangs, while Samiya Bogard, Shamiya Futrell and Jamaya Williams crossed the plate two times each.

Tia Williams, Chism, Kaitlyn Rucker, India Beasley and Nyala Harris added single runs for Forrest City.

The Lady Mustangs are scheduled to play at Little Rock Mills today, depending on the weather. The team will play at Little Rock Parkview Thursday and host Wynne at home on Friday.
