Forrest City A&P approves requests for funding support
Park and conference awarded $8,250 total for improvements, entertainment
The Forrest City Advertising and Promotion Commission held a phone poll today where two requests for support were approved.
The commission received a request for support from the Downtown Community Park Committee in the amount of $4,500. According to the request, the park will be located in the Mural Park across from the St. Francis County Museum.
According to Kelly Lewis, a member of the group who wrote the request, the A&P Commissions involvement will be shown on the Donor List that will be permanently displayed in the Pavilion.
"We feel that this Park will be a tremendous improvement to the Downtown Area," wrote Lewis. "Everything was completed with Commercial Equipment. In addition, the Murals will be refurbished and saved and will be fine for unlimited years. This park will be an attractive downtown improvement which will allow enjoyment for families and better use of the downtown area for the Downtown Association, the public and the Museum for many, many years. The A&P Commissions involvement will be shown on the Donor List which will be a permanent display in the pavilion."
Board members approved the request for support unanimously.
The Commission also received a request for support from Forrest City Mayor Cedric Williams regarding the Arkansas Black Mayors Conference that would be held at the Forrest City Civic Center from June 2, through June 3.
According to the request, a total of $3,750 would be needed to provide souvenir items, food and entertainment. Commissioners approved the request unanimously.
