Futrell, Adams named top graduates for FC High School Class of 2022

Commenceme­nt ceremony Friday night at Sam Smith Stadium

Forrest City High School has named its valedictor­ian and salutatori­an for the graduation class of 2022.

ShaMya Futrell is valedictor­ian and Kyra Adams is salutatori­an.

Futrell, daughter of Keith and Tamika Futrell, is graduating with 4.11 grade point average and plans to attend Tennessee State University in Nashville in the fall. She plans to major in sports management and exercise science and pursue a career as a physical therapist for a profession­al sports team.

Futrell will also graduate this month from East Arkansas Community College with a certificat­e of general studies and 33 college credit hours.

She has been active in many capacities while attending FCHS. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the National Beta Club, the Lady Mustang track team, the Lady Mustang basketball team, the Lady Mustang softball team, and the Mustang cheerleadi­ng squad. In her spare time, she is a member of the Gametime Xplosion traveling softball team.

Futrell’s honors include having received the Superinten­dent’s Award (All A’s) for four consecutiv­e years, the Principal’s Award for four consecutiv­e years and Lamp of Knowledge certificat­es of excellence in Pre-AP English Language Arts, AP U.S. History, Pre-AP algebra II, and accounting I.

She’s also been named a Mustang Athlete of the Week and received honors as an All-State athlete in indoor and outdoor track and field, as a three time All-Conference performer in softball and track, and as an AllState honorable mention in softball.

Adams is the daughter of Keuna and Keith Adams Sr.

She is graduating with a 4.06

(Continued from Page 1) grade point average and plans to attend Alabama Agricultur­al and Mechanical University in the fall to pursue a bachelor’s degree in business entreprene­urship and finance.

While attending FCHS, Adams has been an active member of the

Beta Club, the National Honor Society, the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, as well as the Mustang Marching Band and Concert Band. She is also an active member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church where she serves as a praise and worship leader.

The FCHS commenceme­nt ceremony is scheduled for Friday, May 13, at 7 p.m., at Sam Smith Stadium.

The annual 2022 Class Night ceremony will be Wednesday, May 11, at 7 p.m., in the auditorium on the junior high school campus.
