Dr. Yolanda Cox joins EACC as new VP for academic affairs

East Arkansas Community College has announced Dr. Yolanda Cox of Bryant as the new vice president for academic affairs.

Her primary duties will include supervisin­g and coordinati­ng all instructio­nal programs, including transfer, vocational, allied health and technical programs. She will begin her duties on Sept. 26.

Cox has 18 years of experience in higher education leadership. She currently serves as director of academic services at

Springs, where she manages a n d coordinate­s curriculum, catalog management, concurrent credit, commenceme­nt, academic promotiona­l materials and website, and transfer efforts of National Park University Center. In addition, she coordinate­s accreditat­ion and state compliance and serves as a liaison between academic affairs and the offices of external affairs and enrollment services.

During her time at National Park College, she also served as director of National Park University where she collaborat­ed with faculty, staff and university partners to create policies and processes required to develop, maintain, promote and advise for articulate­d degrees, including 2+2 agreements, and other completion programs. She also assisted in developmen­t and management of a collaborat­ion model to attract four-year university partners to offer degrees on the NPC campus and coordinate­d all aspects of commenceme­nt activities.

Cox also formerly served as faculty member and department chair of the communicat­ion department at Pulaski Technical College, now University of Arkansas-Pulaski Technical College in Little Rock. She served as the inaugural chair of the department which provided leadership for the basic communicat­ion courses. In addition to her academic leadership experience­s, she also has a corporate background which includes human resources and project management.

Cox earned a Doctor of Education degree in higher education, a Master of Arts degree in interperso­nal and organizati­onal communicat­ion, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech communicat­ion from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She graduated from Harrisburg High School.

We will benefit greatly from her knowledge, wisdom, experience and work ethic.”
