Lois Jean ‘Sally’ Vaughn (1927-2022)

-

Lois Jean ‘Sally’ Vaughn, age 95, of Forrest City, died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, at the St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro. She had been in poor health for the past several years.

Mrs. Vaughn was born June 8, 1927, in Forrest City, and was the daughter of Luther Johnson and Lela Mae Devazier Johnson. She lived in Forrest City most all of her life, was retired from First National Bank of Eastern Arkansas, and was a member of the Ridgewood Baptist Church.

Mrs. Vaughn married Jack Vaughn and he preceded her in death in 1979.

‘Sally’ is best described as caregiver in every sense of the word. Never having children of her own, her life's mission was to be the best ‘Sally’ to her sisters’ children, Aubrey Jolley, Alan Jolley (Tanda), Sally Gail Clark Mabrey (Joe), Jenny Clark Hanner, Tommy and Cindy Clark Bradley (Archie), and then to their children, her grandchildren, Chad, Lana, Kelly, Kris, Haley, Clark, Kirby and Lara. She was affectionately renamed ‘SaSa’ by some of the next generation, Alex, Reed, Keaton, Brady, Cade, Bailey, Ethan, Autumn, Jenny Claire, Ella Kate, and Brooks, whom she continued to tirelessly cheer loudly for while keeping tally marks on her own note pad to ensure the score was correct on the board with a tin of homemade muffins in hand for the team.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Willie Mae and Skeet, one nephew, Aubrey, and one niece, Gloria.

Services for Mrs. Vaughn were held graveside at 11 a.m., today, Monday, Sept. 12, 2022, at Forrest Park Cemetery in Forrest City.

Stevens Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
