The St. Francis County Museum's annual art auction is underway.

The auction began Sunday on the 32auctions website and will continue through Friday night.

According to SFC Museum Curator Judy Sweet, 49 items are currently on the auction site, however, a few more could be added before the auction closes at 10 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 28.

"I know that Kim Danehower has a few pieces that could potentially be added to the site, and I believe John Jordan also has a few pieces that may be added," said Sweet. "We currently have 49 pieces on the site and we have received six bids."

Sweet said anyone who wants to bid on an item will need to create a free account on the website in order to bid.

"The easiest way to find our auction is to go to the web browser and search for www.32auctions.com/SFCArt2022," said Sweet. "From there, people can view all items that we have up for auction, and if they want to bid on any items, they will need to create an account with 32auctions.com."

According to Sweet, the auction features a number of different art mediums from hand-knitted scarfs and beanies to pottery and handblown glass.

"We have items on the website that range from $3 to $100," said Sweet. "We have paintings, hand-blown glass, knitted beanies and scarfs and pottery posted, to name just a few of the different art mediums represented in the auction. We have something for everyone."

Danehower said the number of items in this year’s art auction is more than double the number available during the first auction last year.

"We were able to raise approximately $1,500 during the first auction last year," said Danehower. "In that auction, we only had around 20 items. We are very happy to have more than double the amount of items this year with almost 50 items on the auction site. We are also thankful for the donations that we received for this year’s auction."

An open house is planned at the museum on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., for people to view the auction pieces in person.
