Weekend shootings at nightclub injure five; fill car with bullet holes

-

Police responded to a pair of shootings at a local nightclub over the weekend that left one man hospitalized and at least four others injured.

The shootings occurred at the J&S Lounge on West Broadway in the early mornings on both Friday and Saturday within a span of about 24 hours, according to reports on file at the Forrest City Police Department.

About 2:53 a.m., Friday, officers were called to the club, located in the former Security Door building, regarding a subject who had been shot inside the club.

Police identified the victim as Paris Donta Foy, 25, of Forrest City.

According to the report, officers were having a “hard time assisting Foy with aid due to a large crowd gathering around them and stepping in.”

Foy was later transported by a private vehicle to Forrest City Medical Center, as officers followed. From there, he was airlifted to Regional One Medical Center in Memphis. Officials at The Med today said Foy remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Four other people claiming to have been injured in the shooting inside the nightclub arrived at the emergency room while officers were there with Foy, police reported.

Officers spoke with Tyvekio Appleby, 34, of Springdale, who told them that when the first shots “went off inside the club” she was grazed by bullets on her left thigh and knee.

Marquez Powers, 32, of Forrest City, sought medical treatment to his right foot after an apparent gunshot wound he suffered while inside the club.

Brandi Cochran, 25, of Forrest City, arrived at the hospital with cuts on the bottom of one of her feet, telling officers she received her wounds from the glass that was broken during the shooting.

Gambia Mosby, 25, of Forrest City, sought treatment for an injured ankle, telling officers she was trying to run for cover when the shooting broke out and turned her ankle.

While investigating the shootings, officers collected several .40 caliber shell casings as evidence.

An arrest has not yet been made in the shootings as the investigation is continuing.

Nearly 24 hours later, at 2:43 a.m., on Saturday, officers were called back to the J&S Lounge regarding a vehicle that had been damaged by gunfire.

Cordairo Brown Dierre, 35, of Forrest City, told police he was

Young told officers he was laid back in the passenger seat when he heard gunshots and realized someone was shooting at the vehicle.

No one was reportedly injured in the gunfire.

Officers found numerous bullet holes in the vehicle and recovered at least nine brass 9mm shell casings from the scene.

On Monday night, officers responded to gunshots on Roosevelt Street after the ShotSpotter system detected three gunshots being fired at a residence.

Officers recovered four .40 caliber shells casings – two from inside and two from outside the home.

That invesitgation is also continuing.
