Helen Elizabeth Armstrong (1934-2022)

Helen Elizabeth “Libby” Rich Armstrong, age 88, of Forrest City, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 28, 2022, in Wynne, surrounded by her children to whom she devoted her life.

Libby was born Oct. 5, 1934, in Colt, and was the daughter of Wallace and Helen Rich. She held fond memories of growing up with lots of family picnics, singing with her parents and siblings, riding her horse, singing in the choir at Forrest City High School, and attending Colt Baptist Church. She loved to play piano and sing and was a devout Arkansas Razorbacks Fan.

She moved to Memphis after high school to attend business school, where she met and soon married John Wayne Armstrong in January 1955. The following years were focused on raising their family while John preached at several churches throughout the South, finally coming back home to Colt and Forrest City. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Forrest City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her siblings, John Wallace Rich, Charles Allan Rich and Barbara Ann Rich Rivers.

She is survived by a son, John Wallace (Sheila) Armstrong of Memphis; two daughters, Rebecca Anne Armstrong (Sammy) Lee of Forrest City and Helen Christine “Cris” Armstrong (Brad) Moore of Colliervil­le, Tenn.; grandchild­ren, Heather Michelle Hamm, Holly Marie Halford, John Raymond Lee, Elizabeth Lee Moore, Anna Lee Mister, Reagan Walker Moore and Garrett Bradley Moore and great-grandchild­ren, Mary Claire Hamm, Margaret Caroline “Meg” Hamm, Reid Wallace Halford, Madeline Mae “Maddie” Halford, McKinnley Raye Lee, Jarrett Allen “Jett” Moore, Braylon Kai Mister and Astin Cruz Mister, and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, beginning at 10 a.m., and continuing until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m., at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel.

Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangemen­ts.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital or First Baptist Church of Forrest City.
