SMILES BY REMBOS

Dental practice strives for friendliness, will extend days on Sanibel

- BY CRAIG GARRETT Craig Garrett is Group Editor-in-Chief for TOTI Media.

Alan Rembos came to Sanibel to vacation. And like so many others, he chose to stay in Southwest Florida, bringing a wealth of patient-care experience from his hometown Chicago. “We’ve always been about keeping the personal touch,” says Rembos, a Northwestern University Dental School alum who will open his Sanibel offic e four days per week starting this fall. He also has dental offices in Fort Myers, Marco and Naples. “Always about friendly people.”

There’s something about a smile, a positive and healthy smile that turns heads, keeps the owner healthy and feeling good for life. Dr. Rembos begins new patients with an initial examination, providing an overview of treatment and care selections. He and his staff are recognized as “best of” in Southwest Florida in numerous categories such as general and routine dentistry, implants, orthodontics, whitenings, veneers, cosmetic, oral surgery, emergencies, computerized anesthesia, pain management, root canal treatments, and other care listings meeting each need and wish. It’s important to visit a quality dentist such as Dr. Rembos: Gum disease is particularly devastating―and common. Researchers estimate that some 50 percent of us age 30 and up have some form of periodontitis, twothirds over age 65. Poor dental care can also cause more serious issues such as heart disease, dementia, respiratory infections, diabetic complications, premature childbirth, osteoporosis and other problems prevented and resolved by visits to the dentist, according to health experts with the Mayo Clinic, who also recommend brushing twice daily, flossing, watching what foods are eaten and avoiding tobacco. Good dental health saves us from disease and pain, but also from drilling into our wallets, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which estimates Americans spend millions in emergency repairs for poorly cared for teeth and gums.

Like so many on social media, Vicki B. posted a comment about emergency care under Dr. Rembos: “Fast, efficient, emergency care. Had an infected tooth, pain, face swelled. They got me in the same day I called. ALL STAFF were super nice, friendly, & efficient. [Doctor] prescribed an antibiotic, which helped almost immediately. Next morning I felt almost 100% better.”

Since very few of us are excited about visiting the dentist, Dr. Rembos is particularly eager to provide a welcoming office. Support staff and physicians are chosen for that innate ability to connect, to smile and to understand that each patient requires comfort and minimal stress, including oral sedation and sedation “sleep” dentistry, allowing patients to wake up 10 minutes after procedures. That choice is available for all procedures, and computerized injections are used for all treatments. Dr. Rembos will make sure “Your Smile by Rembos” procedure is pain free and safe.
