Youth programs are offered at the Cape Coral Art League

-

Thinking about creating a colorful watercolor or expressive acrylic? The Cape Coral Art League (CCAL) is a great place to bring your masterpiece to life. CCAL was incorporated in 1966 to promote the advancement of art in Southwest Florida. Today you can find a variety of classes and workshops for adults, such as Watercolor for the

Beginner. Teens and children can sign up for Student Sundays art classes (ages 8-18; through May 2019), and Adult & Youth Drawing Class (ages 12 and up). The summer months offer art camps for children. During the fall, there are after-school children’s art classes (ages 7-13).

Additionally, the league’s Open Painting sessions are offered every Wednesday from 1-4 pm. The sessions are open to the public ($2 members/$6 non-members), and are interactive, fun and popular with artists of all levels. They bring their current art projects to CCAL to work on, and are surrounded by other artists who are working on their own pieces side by side. “It’s a fun time to meet, greet and learn from others,” says Robin Klingler, who handles marketing for CCAL.

Throughout the year workshops are hosted by renowned artists, such as Pat Gilbert, Frederica Marshall and Marie Natale. Plus, the league holds regular art shows and has a gift shop that showcases the work of its own artists.

CCAL relies on the donations of organizations, as well as those from the general public. “We accepted a generous grant of $2,500 from the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Florida,” says Robin Klingler. The much-appreciated grant was put to good use for the league’s youth programs.
