Laid-back, yet refined, clothes are what make Island Pursuit one of Sanibel’s favorite stores

-

Island Pursuit is the perfect name for this stylish boutique tucked on Sanibel Island. In the late 1980s when retailer Michael Valentino decided to follow his dream to pursue the island life, the brand was born. Since he has stocked his store with casual women’s and men’s clothing that has a nautical flair and resort appeal. At Island Pursuit, the focus is on creating a laid-back, yet refined and pulled-together, look that works just as well on a boat as in a restaurant.

At the store on Periwinkle Way, you’ll find everything from performance shirts and pants by Southern Tide and Johnnie-O to original Breton stripes from Saint-James. Look for dresses from Sailor-Sailor and stylish slim-fitting pants by Jag Jeans. Relaxed and fashionable Tommy Bahama clothing is also featured.

Most popular is the Vineyard Vines sportswear collection, known for its pink whale logo.

Island Pursuit’s women’s fashions are in colors, prints and fabrics that work best in warm weather. UPF50 sun shirts in bright island-inspired patterns along with striped T-shirts and collared shirts are among the choices. Easy comfortable dresses, from sleeveless to full-sleeve styles fill the racks, and leather sandals in intriguing designs by Jack Roger are a top seller.

Men will find classic polos, button-down styles in gingham, and performance shirts. The store’s shorts and swim trunks in lighter weight fabrics are ideal for Florida’s climate. In fact, with a selection of fun ball caps and canvas shoes by Toms, Island Pursuit has you covered from head to toe.
