The first phase of construction on the Enclave, Shell Point Retirement Community’s latest neighborhood, is complete, and several residents have already begun moving into the community. Roughly half of the single-family homes and villas have been completed, and construction continues briskly on the remaining homes. The entrance, community center and swimming pool have been completed as well.

Designed by RDG Planning and Design, the private-gated neighborhood is surrounded by the natural beauty of a nearby golf course and offers scenic lake views. Shell Point Retirement Community engaged RDG, a Midwest-based firm with offices in Fort Myers, to design the Enclave’s residential layout and dedicated community center where residents could have easy access to high-end amenities that encourage a healthy, active lifestyle.

The architectural design for the 1,600-square-foot community center incorporates views of the nearby lake, as well as a swimming pool, outdoor shower, deck seating under a large shade structure, and restrooms. ments of Old-Florida architecture, creating a charming, familiar aesthetic reflective of the Southwest Florida location.

The interiors of the community center were created by Meghan Kolund, design director at Wegman Design Group in Naples. “The interior of the community building features a great-room concept with a refined contemporary design that features a woodtrimmed coffered ceiling, modern linear chandeliers, dark wood furnishings, a large-screen TV and a streamlined kitchen with dark gray wood cabinetry, Cambria quartz countertops and stainless-steel appliances. Set amid these upscale interior finishes, the large gathering room provides space for residents to come together to socialize,” she says.

The architectural designs of the 35 single-family homes and attached villas in the Enclave neighborhood were created by Annette Nilles, president of Nilles Design Group, based in Cape Coral. The homes feature Old-Florida design elements that are enhanced by the native landscaping design created by the international firm, Stantec Landscape Architecture.

Civil engineering services for land development of the community elevations, drainage and roadways were provided by Johnson Engineering, headquartered in Fort Myers.

According to Adam Hinds, vice president of operations for Shell Point Retirement Community, the remaining homes in the Enclave are in various stages of construction, which is progressing on schedule. He expects two to four homes will be completed each month through January 2021. “We are excited that new residents have begun moving into the neighborhood,” says Hinds, “and we look forward to welcoming more in the near future.”
