SPRINGDALE - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Patricia Helen Bassler on January 10th, 2024, in Springdale, Arkansas, at the age of 83.

Pat, as she was affectionately known, graced this world on February 7th, 1940, in Pittsburgh, PA, to her parents John and Elizabeth Tunney. As the second of four children, she brought warmth and joy to her family and beyond. After graduating high school in 1960, Pat embarked on a journey that would lead her to a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories.

While working as a supervisor at Isley’s soda shop, fate intervened, and Pat met Stan—the love of her life. Their love story unfolded through letters exchanged during Stan’s time in the army and Pat’s stay at the convent in Abbeville, LA. Stan’s proposal through a heartfelt letter marked the beginning of a beautiful union, and on August 16th, 1960, they were joined in marriage.

Pat and Stan planted the seeds of their family in Pittsburgh, PA, where they welcomed their children on Fingal St. In 1971, they embarked on a new chapter, moving to the serene town of Booneville, Arkansas. The summer of 1975 saw them settling on a charming farm in Blue Mountain, Arkansas, where they lovingly raised their children.

Devoted to both family and work, Pat retired as a purchasing/transportation manager at DPM/Cargill. Their commitment to community extended to The Lady Assumption Church, where Pat and Stan dedicated their time and resources, leaving an indelible mark. Pat, with her knack for numbers, handled the accounting, supported fish fries, fundraisers, and assisted Stan in church renovations.

In her free time, Pat generously donated her skills, helping the community with tax preparation at the Booneville library. A lover of dance, she and Stan enjoyed the art of swing dancing and square dancing together.

Family was Pat’s heartbeat. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Her enduring affection was felt through frozen popsicles, home-cooked meals, trail rides, fishing, swimming, and the cherished late-night toad hunts.
