— The Caroline County Department of Emergency Services received the fifth of a five-year grant commitment, as announced July 18, from University Shore Regional Health this year.

This marks a total of $600,000 in funding by University of Maryland Shore Regional Health to support health care access in Caroline County.

“Access to care is an important part of putting our patients first and achieving our mission of creating healthier communities together”, said Ken Kozel, president and CEO, UM Shore Regional Health.

Caroline County and UM Shore Regional Health officials celebrated with the placing of a UM SRH logo on one of the County’s newest ambulances.

“Shore Health has been an outstanding partner in addressing health care access,” said Caroline County Commission President Larry Porter. “As the only County without a hospital or stand-alone emergency room, we put a lot of miles on our ambulances. Shore Health has made sure we are able to maintain a safe, reliable, high-quality ambulance service.”

UM Shore Regional Health will open its new medical pavilion at state Route 404 and Deep Shore Road in Denton in early 2019.

The 50,000 square foot medical pavilion will be the hub of UM Shore Regional Health’s outpatient services in Caroline County, providing family medicine, laboratory testing, diagnostic and imaging, rehabilitation services and a community health education suite.

In addition, the pavilion is expected to house a mental health bridge program, home health care office, and a shared suite for rotating medical specialties.
