the postseason. That year, the team went 8-2 and got bounced in the first playoff round by 9-1 Stephen Decatur, who in turn lost in the 2A East regional final (Bennett and Decatur were Class 2A teams a long time ago) to Aberdeen, who had a quarterback named Erin Henderson.
Yes, pro linebacker Erin Henderson. His older brother, E. J., was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings earlier that year, and the two ended up playing together for a while in the NFL.
This year might just be the year for that; the Clippers have a variety of weapons and it’s hard to stop them all.
This week’s for all the rivalry marbles, and some playoff berths are also on the line. I include a couple out-of-conference games due to their obvious bearing on Bayside teams, as well as how they involve potential future Bayside opponents.
Thursday’s Game Washington (1-8) at Parkside (7-2)
Though C-SD and North Caroline have already locked in postseason spots, Parkside will do it first this week.
Friday’s Games Game of the Week Easton (4-5) at Cambridge-SD (6-3)
This could be an Easton win if the passing attack works and the Warrior defense plays like it showed it could several times this year. But I go home team here.
North Caroline (9-0) at Col. Richardson (5-4)
Make it 12 straight for the blue and white. 42-14.
Queen Anne’s (4-5) at Kent Island (4-5)
Back in August, I didn’t think I’d be saying this, but... now they’re playing for pride. And I go with the Pride to win this time around.
Kent County (2-7) at Patterson Mill (0-8)
The Huskies would give both Bo Manor and Perryville a bonus point if they win. The Trojans would give one to C-SD and Colonel, among others.
Wicomico (6-3) at James M. Bennett (7-2)
The 2018 Salisbury city
champions this year will be the...
Snow Hill (0-9) at Decatur (2-7)
Worcester County’s champ will be the same one as in most previous years. — Seahawks, 21-9.
Perryville (5-4) at Bohemia Manor (4-4)
And the team likely to play C-SD in the first round is the... — Eagles, 26-20.
Havre de Grace (7-2) at North Harford (3-6)
This game matters more to the teams who’ve beaten the combatants than the combatants themselves, thanks to bonus points.
Elkton (7-2) at C. M. Wright (4-5)
A decent warmup for an opening-round playoff, this game should be fairly competitive.
Joppatowne (2-7) at Harford Tech (8-1)
A not-so-decent warmup for an opening-round playoff, this game will be fairly lopsided.
Week 9: Season: Career:
56-8 (.875). 974-197 (.832).
