Christ­mas in Caro­line set for De­cem­ber 1-2

DEN­TON — The 18th An­nual “Christ­mas in Caro­line” event will be held Satur­day, Dec. 1, and Sun­day, Dec. 2, at the Caro­line County 4-H Park lo­cated on De­tour Road, off state Route 16 south of Den­ton.

The Satur­day, Dec. 1, hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Sun­day, Dec. 2, hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The first week­end in De­cem­ber at the 4-H Park is turned into a Christ­mas won­der­land. The Main Ac­tiv­i­ties Build­ing will fea­ture craft, col­lectible and gift mer­chan­dise ven­dors. A large ar­ray of prod­ucts will be avail­able in­clud­ing hand­crafted wood items, home dé­cor items, jew­elry, hand­made and spe­cialty gift items and even de­li­cious good­ies to be used for those spe­cial Christ­mas par­ties.

As vis­i­tors en­ter the build­ing both adults and chil­dren will re­ceive a door prize ticket. On both days door prizes are given out ev­ery half hour. Also in the main build­ing a Silent Auc­tion will be set up each day.

A Chil­dren’s Make-It Take-It Work­shop will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. both on Satur­day and Sun­day. This craft­ing event will be open to all youth 5-18. (Younger chil­dren with the help of an adult also can par­tic­i­pate). A fee of $1 will be charged per each craft made.

The kitchen will be open serv­ing break­fast and lunch both days. On the menu are a va­ri­ety of break­fast sand­wiches, ham­burg­ers, hot­dogs, chicken salad sand­wiches, home­made chili and soups along with a va­ri­ety of desserts and bev­er­ages.

The Wil­liams Build­ing across the road will fea­ture a Coun­try Store. The store will of­fer home­made breads, cakes, candy and pies. Gift boxed cook­ies, made and do­nated by 4-H fam­i­lies, will also be on sale. Fresh ar­range­ments, bunches of fresh greens, door swags, grave blan­kets and a va­ri­ety of wreaths cre­ated by 4-H fam­i­lies and friends of 4-H may also be pur­chased in the Coun­try Store.

Chil­dren will find Santa Claus in a fes­tive hol­i­day set­ting on stage in­side the Wil­liams Build­ing. Mrs. Claus will greet the young­sters and par­ents may pur­chase a photo of their lit­tle ones with Santa from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Satur­day, and from 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Sun­day.

Again this year, Christ­mas pet pho­tos will be avail­able.The Pet Photo set­ting area will be same area as the Kids Santa Photo area, and will be taken in the same time frame for each day.Chil­dren as well as adults can bring their pets for a photo at a rea­son­able fee. Pho­tos will be of­fered by What an Im­pres­sion this year. Fam­ily mem­bers can also ap­pear in the photo if they wish.

Pony rides will be of­fered for a nom­i­nal fee each day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For a small fee chil­dren and adults can par­tic­i­pate in a Christ­mas Candy Cane Game and win Christ­mas re­lated items. Frosty and Ru­dolph will also be vis­it­ing on both days.

A “Win­ter Won­der­land Wheel Game” will again be of­fered this year, fea­tur­ing snow­men, Santa nov­elty items, yummy cakes and many spe­cial hol­i­day items. Pro­ceeds from it will go to the “Joanne Woot­ers Fair Schol­ar­ship Fund.”

Hol­i­day mu­sic will be pro­vided by Jay Davis of A+ DJ’s and most likely ev­ery­one’s fa­vorite Christ­mas song will be played.

Christ­mas in Caro­line again will host a 5K Rein­deer Run Satur­day, Dec. 1. Reg­is­tra­tion will be at 8 a.m. at the 4-H Park and the race will start at 9 a.m. In­ter­ested par­tic­i­pants may con­tact Re­becca Burgess at 410-829-9251 for reg­is­tra­tion in­for­ma­tion.

This event is or­ga­nized by lo­cal cit­i­zens un­der the spon­sor­ship of Caro­line/ Dorch­ester County Fair, a non-profit or­ga­ni­za­tion. Ad­mis­sion is free and there is plenty of park­ing.
