All-League selections announced
The Humboldt-Del Norte League announced its All-Conference volleyball selections Thursday morning. A pair of standouts on conference champion teams, Arcata High’s Maya Mircetich and St. Bernard’s Academy’s Lele Tanuvasa earned MVP honors for what were stellar seasons by both.
Mircetich and the Tigers
Mircetich, a senior, led Arcata to an outright Big 5 Conference title and an undefeated record against H-DNL competition. Arcata advanced to the quarterfinalround of the North Coast Section Division 4 tournament before falling on the road to Cardinal Newman.
In edition to Mircetich; Bella Peterman, Lilli Bowman and Lola Renteria earned All-Conference selections. Avery Thornburgh and Mekaynea Solia both earned honorable mention honors for the Tigers.
The freshman sensation
Tanuvasa didn’t just earn her way into some varsity playing time as a freshman — the middle-blocker earned the right to be a cornerstone of the 5th straight Little 5 Conference title run by St. Bernard’s.
The Crusaders finished 8-0 against conference competition and earned the No. 6 seed in the NCS Divison 6 tournament before falling in the first-round at home to Anderson Valley.
The Crusaders’ Josie Perterson, Mckenzie Finck and Annabelle Sligh were awarded All-Conference selections as well. Courteney Goodman and Pule Fonoti earned honorable mentions for St. Bernard’s.
