The following were compiled from Eureka Police Department news releases:

STABBING: On Thursday evening around 5:23 p.m., officers were dispatched to a stabbing that just occured in the 300 block of W. Del Norte Street.

When officers arrived, the victim said a woman who she had met recently confronted her at her house. The suspect, later identified as Shelly Elaine John, 47, pulled out a knife and demanded keys to the victim’s car. When the victim refused, John lunged at the victim stabbing her. John then fled.

The victim sustained two moderate stab wounds and was taken to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment.

On Friday around 1:47 a.m., EPD was notified by the San Francisco Police Department that John was found and taken into custody. SFPD said John was being held on suspicion of possession of stolen property and her vehicle was impounded as evidence.

An EPD detective reached out to the victim. Based on the identifyin­g inforation provided by SFPD, the victim was shown a photo lineup and positively identified John as the woman who stabbed her. An arrest warrant was issued for John who is accused of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, carjacking, and elder abuse. The bail amount on the warrant is $135,000.

Friday morning investigat­ors traveled to San Francisco to process the vehicle and conduct followup on the investigat­ion.

The investigat­ion is ongoing. KIDNAPPING: On Friday around 3:34 a.m., dispatcher­s received second-hand informatio­n that a woman was being held against her will be her boyfriend identified as Chai Lia Her, 37. The caller said the victim has called her and said Her would not let her out of his vehicle and was driving around Eureka.

The vehicle was only described as a gray truck. A records check revealed a possible license plate for the vehicle and officers began searching for it.

Around 4:15 am, the victim phoned 911 and could be heard stating repeatedly that she wanted to be taken home.

found Her’s vehicle traveling southbound on Fairway

Drive. Officers attempted to pull the vehicle over on Herrick Ave., but the vehicle sped off and a pursuit was initiated. The vehicle entered onto U.S. Highway 101 northbound and

into city limits. The truck stopped on Glen Street at Harris Avenue.

Her was detained without incident. The victim was found uninjured in the passenger seat of the vehicle.

As a result of the investigat­ion, Her was taken into custody on suspicion of kidnapping and evading. He was booked into the Humboldt County jail and is being held on $75,000 bail.

The investigat­ion is ongoing.
