The following was compiled from a Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office news release:

STABBING: On Saturday around 11:49 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a business on the 38900 block of state Route 299 in Willow Creek for the report of a stabbing.

When deputies arrived at the business, they found the suspect, identified as 36-yearold Janeen Melissa Jackson, attempting to walk away from the scene. Deputies placed Jackson under arrest and made spoke with a 21-year-old female victim who was found to have stab-related injuries to her face and upper chest.

Deputies learned Jackson and the victim knew each other and were patrons of the business. The two were outside when they got into a verbal altercation. During that altercation, Jackson reportedly brandished a knife, at which time the victim attempted to leave. Jackson prevented the victim from leaving and physically assaulted her with the knife.

The victim fled to safety into a nearby friend’s vehicle. Jackson reportedly tried to flee the scene in a vehicle. However, the driver of the vehicle containing the victim blocked Jackson’s vehicle, preventing her from leaving.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries but is expected to recover.

Jackson was booked into the Humboldt County jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm.

The sheriff’s office asks anyone with information about this case or related criminal activity to call the office at 707-445-7251 or its crime tip line at 707-268-2539.
