A second inmate has died from an attack by another inmate last week at a central California prison, officials said.
A second inmate has died from an attack by another inmate last week at a central California prison, officials said Wednesday.
Graham De Luis-Conti, 62, was pronounced dead on Sunday at an outside hospital, three days after authorities said he was attacked at California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison in Corcoran.
They said Jonathan Watson, 41, used a walking cane to cause multiple head wounds to both victims. David Bobb, 48, died en route to the hospital.
Both victims were serving life prison sentences for aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14 years old.
Watson has served 10 years of a 50 years to life sentence from Humboldt County for first-degree murder and discharging a firearm causing great bodily injury or death.
Watson was convicted in 2009 for his role in the 2008 murder of Cutten resident Garrett Benson.
According to the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office, Benson was in his Cutten home when Watson forced his way into the residence Dec. 3, 2008. The two struggled, and Benson was shot three times and died hours later in a hospital. Officials said there was a significant amount of marijuana being grown and processed in the home.
The prison houses more than 5,400 inmates and specializes in substance abuse treatment.
