CR athletics to re­strict at­ten­dance

Be­gin­ning March 22 spec­ta­tors will not be al­lowed to at­tend ath­letic events at Col­lege of the Red­woods, the col­lege an­nounced Tues­day.

The de­ci­sion comes as a pre­cau­tion­ary mea­sure in re­sponse to the re­cent out­break of COVID-19.

All spec­ta­tors, in­clud­ing fam­ily mem­bers of ath­letes, will not be per­mit­ted to at­tend any athletics events at CR.

CR’s base­ball team, which plays its home games at Bomber Field­Red­wood Acres, will for now con­tinue to al­low spec­ta­tors un­til fur­ther no­tice.

CR’s ath­letic di­rec­tor Bob Brown said the col­lege’s pre­cau­tion­ary mea­sures are be­ing eval­u­ated day-to-day, and that there is no time-ta­ble as to when CR may be­gin al­low­ing spec­ta­tors back into events at CR once the re­stric­tions come into ef­fect.

March 22, a Sun­day, is the first of­fi­cial day back af­ter CR’s spring break.

The col­lege will con­tinue to live-stream its sport­ing events on the CR athletics Face­book page af­ter the re­stric­tions go into ef­fect.
