A Cutten teenager has been missing since Saturday night.

17-year-old Faith Carrick was last seen by her parents around 10 p.m. Saturday night near Campton Road in Cutten and reported missing to the sheriff’s office Sunday morning.

Carrick is 5-foot-5, 175-pounds and white. Her mother Marie Chappelle-Carrick said she believes Carrick left their home around 4 a.m. Sunday morning. Carrick brought with her a purse, keys and iPod but not her cellphone.

Chappelle-Carrick said Carrick was in good spirits when she last saw her Saturday night and gave no indication of wanting to leave.

The mother said she found a note Sunday morning in Carrick’s room saying she loved them (her parents), and that she needed to work through some things on her own and could not do it from home.

“We are baffled…It makes no sense,” Chappelle-Carrick said. “She doesn’t spend a lot of time out and likes to be home.

“We’ve had absolutely no contact with her since Saturday,” the mother said.

Chappelle-Carrck said a group of her family, friends and neighbors scoured the nearby McKay Tract, a Cutten-area forest, for Carrick but found no sign of her.

The Sheriff’s Office is treating the case a runaway juvenile and asks anyone with any information to contact the office at 707-4457251. Chappelle-Carrick said her daughter is a “homebody” and a “voracious reader.”

Posters alerting the community to Carrick’s disappearance have been placed around Humboldt County. Chappelle-Carrick said that anyone with information may call her at 707-499-0551.
