Churches continue with online services

Editor’s note: Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, area churches have made adjustment­s to their regular services. Most are offering online services. Here are some of the local church responses.

EUREKA CENTER FOR SPIRITUAL LIVING Eureka (239 Buhne St.):

Due to recent events, the Sunday service and the Rev. Angelica Taggart’s talks will take place via Zoom, as well as all other activities of Eureka Center for Spiritual Living — until further notice. The various Zoom addresses to be used to participat­e can be found at http://eurekasom.com. The Sunday Celebratio­n Service is at 10 a.m. The prayer line is 707445-4257.

FAITH CENTER

Eureka (1032 Bay St.): This weekend, Pastor Heidi Messner preaches the next message in the series “Real ID.” Her message is titled “Family Matters” and comes out of Mark, Chapter 3. There will be a special tribute for moms during services this weekend. Faith Center’s building is currently closed for walkin appointmen­ts during the week, though the staff is ready to respond to requests and questions during this crisis. EUREKA FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH Eureka (520 Del Norte St.):

Worship Sunday will not include a congregati­on in the sanctuary, but will be a live-stream at 9:30a.m. on the church Facebook page. FORTUNA CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE Fortuna (1355 Ross Hill Road):

In-person Sunday worship services and Wednesday meetings are suspended for now due to the COVID-19 crisis. Online services are available at www.fortunanaz.org under the “Videos” tab. For prayer requests, visit the church website or call 707-7253151,

OUR SAVIOUR’S LUTHERAN CHURCH

Ferndale (425 Shaw Ave.): Worship services are broadcasti­ng live on Facebook every Sunday until further notice. The service starts at 10 a.m. and will broadcast from Our Savior’s one week and Christ Lutheran the next week (alternatin­g weeks). 707-786-9619.

CHRIST LUTHERAN, FORTUNA Fortuna (2132 Smith Lane):

UNITY OF THE REDWOODS Eureka:

The meeting time is changed to 11 a.m. Sundays with no physical location. Unity of the Redwoods will meet via conference call until further notice. FORTUNA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH Fortuna (10th and N streets):

ST. MARK’S LUTHERAN CHURCH (LCMS)

Ferndale (795 Berding St.): The Divine Service will be held on the lawn across the street from church at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, abiding by six-foot physical distancing and recommende­d use of face coverings. For homebound individual­s, a video of Scripture readings, prayer of the church and pastor’s sermon will be posted on the church website, YouTube and Facebook, available by the usual start time of Sunday at 10:30a.m. The pastor is the Rev. Fortuna (568 16th St.): Celebrate the good news of Jesus Christ by joining in for online worship. The Rev. CHRIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH EUREKA

Dr. Daniel London will be preaching and co-officiatin­g with the Rev. Lesley McCloghrie. KDK ARCATA BUDDHIST GROUP Arcata:

Music is a mix of traditiona­l hymns led by Joan Sikkens and praise songs led by Seth Farison. Hasan will be introducin­g a new series aimed at taking people deeper in their relationsh­ips with the God that Jesus knows. This Sunday’s message is titled “A Good God in Our Bad Circumstan­ces.” The series will be ongoing through the end of June.
