Food box distribution set for today

-

The Salvation Army of Eureka will hold a drive-thru food box distribution event today from noon to 4 p.m. at 2123 Tydd Street to help hundreds of families in need.

The 400 food boxes will be given away on a first come, first served basis. Families and individuals should bring an ID, if possible, to receive a food box. Those interested in receiving a food box can call 707-442-6475 with additional questions.

Food insecurity is affecting a lot of people right now due to the COVID-19 pandemic. More and more people are finding it harder to get the food they need to feed their families. The 400 food boxes were given to the Eureka nonprofit by another Salvation Army location in Northern California. Volunteers will help distribute the boxes, following safety guidelines set forth by the city, county and state.
