WHO, model U.N., Red Cross a great idea

Model United Nations at Humboldt State Union years was a memorable experience. As the WHO representative for our “German” team, I learned about the World Health Organization and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Society based in Geneva, Switzerland. I received lot of useful material in order to play my part.

Our California Model U.N. met in Sacramento. Since I had a lot of Red Cross material, a weird concoction of interested countries met in our caucus.

We put forth a formal suggestion to our General Assembly to give money to the American Red Cross. It passed unanimously in the General Assembly. The various countries took in over a thousand dollars for the Red Cross.

Though some individuals might not agree, I think WHO is a great idea. So is model U.N. So is the Red Cross. Hassanah Nelson, Arcata
