Editor’s note: The following is a list of the board, commission and council meetings that are scheduled this week around Humboldt County.
Arcata City Council
When: First and third Wednesday of every month at 6p.m.

• The council will consider extending the local emergency created by COVID-19.
• The council will discuss putting a special tax on the November ballot to fund improvements and maintenance of the city’s parks, trails, forest and open spaces.
• The council will discuss the fiscal year 2020-21 budget.
• The council will discuss police reform in light of the recent fatal arrest of George Floyd.

Eureka City Council
When: First and third Tuesdays of the month at 6 p.m.
Where: The meeting can be view through the city’s website or Access Humboldt channels
• The council will meet at 5 p.m. in closed session to discuss anticipated and initiated litigation.
• During the regular session, the council will hold a public hearing on various rates and fees.
• The council will consider spending more than $261,000 on six police interceptor vehicles from Harper Motors.
• The council will consider extending an agreement with Danco Communities for an additional year for the senior housing complex at Seventh and Myrtle. The council will also consider a loan for more than $1 million for the project.
• The council will receive a budget recommendation for fiscal year 2020-21.

Ferndale City Council
When: Third Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m.

• The council will discuss a resolution prohibiting smoking in certain areas of the city.
• The council will consider a resolution to approve the 2020-21 budget.

Fortuna City Council

• The council will consider extending the local emergency surrounding

Humboldt County Association of Governments
When: Third Thursday of each month at 4 p.m.

• The board will receive an update on the safety corridor
improvement projects from Caltrans.
• The board will receive an update on the mobility-ondemand strategic development plan.
• The board will receive an update on Last Chance Grade.

Humboldt County Board of Supervisors
When: Every Tuesday at 9 a.m. except for the fifth Tuesday of a month; special meeting Monday at 1:30 p.m. Where: The meeting can be viewed on the county’s website or via Access Humboldt channels.
• During the Monday meeting, the board will hold a public hearing on the proposed 2020-21 budget.
• During the regular Tuesday meeting, the board will consider overruling the Airport Land Use Commission’s determination of inconsistency for the proposed Southern Humboldt hospital in Garberville.
• The board will receive the sanctuary ordinance report from the probation department.
• The board will receive a report on consumer price index increases for cannabis excise tax bills.
• The board will receive an update at 9 a.m. on the conditions surrounding COVID-19.
• The board will meet in closed session to discuss a request for claims filed by a deputy public defender. The board will also discuss a performance evaluation of the public defender.

Humboldt County Planning Commission
When: First Thursday of the month at 6 p.m.

• The commission will consider special use and conditional use permits for a variety of cannabis cultivation and manufacturing businesses.
• The commission will continue to discuss changes to the accessory dwelling unit ordinance.
• The commission will discuss the 2018and 2019 General Plan and Housing Element annual progress reports.

Rio Dell City Council

• The council will consider authorizing the mail to sign a letter about the lowincome River Bluff cottages and concerns about security.
