FormerRaiders OL Henderson dies at 35
Mario Henderson, a former Raiders tackle who started 28 games between 2008 and 2010, has died at age 35, according to a Florida high school coach and former high school teammate.
“On behalf of the Lehigh Football Program I would like to extend my condolences to the family of our Brother, Lehigh Lightning & Florida State Seminole GREAT, Mr. Mario Henderson!” Lehigh High School coach James Chaney posted on his Twitter account.
The details surrounding his death were not immediately known. Henderson was to turn 36 on Oct. 29.
Henderson was originally drafted by the New England Patriots in 2007with the 91st overall selection but traded to the Raiders for a seventhround pick in that draft plus a third-round pick in 2008. The Raiders are coming off a bye week, where players were required to take coronavirus tests each day but were for themost part left on their own. They began preparations in earnest to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers without Brown on the field. The rest of the offensive line starters were sent home as well. None of the other four linemen sent home were placed on the COVID-19 list.
Brown will likely miss the Tampa Bay game unless the test is deemed a false positive.

LSU WORKING WITH NCAA TO SELF- IMPOSE PENALTIES FOR FOOTBALL » LSU has self-imposed penalties for NCAA rules violations by the football program that include a reduction of scholarships and a two-year ban from its athletic facilities for Cleveland Browns star and former Tigers receiver Odell Beckham Jr., according to a report by Sports Illustrated.
LSU acknowledged itwas working the NCAA and had self-imposed penalties, but provided no other details.
Sports Illustrated reported LSU was working with the NCAA on three separate potential football violations, including a Level III (consideredminor) violation for Beckham’s handing out of about $2,000 worth of cash to Tigers players on the field after last year’s College Football Playoff national championship game.

STAN VAN GUN DY AGREES TO BECOME NEW ORLEANS PELICANS’ COACH» Stan Van Gundy announced Wednesday that he is headed to the New Orleans Pelicans, where he’ll take over a promising team that includes No. 1 overall draft pick Zion Williamson and reigning Most Improved Player Brandon Ingram.
Van Gundy agreed to a four-year contract, said a person who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the terms had not been revealed publicly.
