Thanks to Wade Owen Johnson Memorial Fund

On behalf of Redway Elementary School and teaching staff, I want to thank the Wade Owen Johnson Memorial Fund for their annual grant awarded to Redway School this year in the amount $8,690.00. Over the past 10 years, the Humboldt Area Foundation has managed the Wade Owen Johnson Memorial Fund. This grant is awarded annually and divided amongst teachers to support discretionary funding for supplies, teaching aids, and items not ordinarily funded. Over $45,000.00 has been awarded to Redway School teachers in the last 10 years.

Redway Elementary School teachers have been extremely grateful for the annual donations over the past 10 years, and have used the funds to purchase a wide variety of supplies to supplement classroom needs. Many teachers have purchased art supplies, such as watercolor paints, pastels, modeling clay, washable paints, construction paper, and more. Others purchased P.E. equipment such as soccer balls, basketballs, jump ropes, bean bags, and collaborative games. Often listening centers, headphones, and other technological supports were purchased. Teachers also purchased science supplies, STEM building toys, math manipulatives, as well as a variety of educational learning games.

With the ever decreasing funding for our schools in our state, it is wonderful to have local donations to help support our school.
