BODE BROTHERS LEAD LOGGERS >> Decisive performances from Eureka High’s Bode Brothers put the loggers over the Del Norte High Warriors in their Week 3 duel.

The Loggers prevailed over their hosts with a 26-20 victory which saw the lead change hands until the final minutes of the game. The road win extends the Loggers’ overall record to 3-0.

Eureka struck first and struck hard in the game’s first quarter.

A 43-yard scramble from senior quarterback Hayden Bode put the Loggers on the scoreboard first. Sophomore running back Rogan Bode kept the momentum going for Eureka in the opening 15.

The second-year player caught a pass from older brother Hayden and ran the ball 65 yards to goal to extend their team’s lead. In a fake play minutes later, sophomore quarterback Hans Chalmers connected with the younger Bode brother to put their team up 20-0 into the end of the first quarter.

Del Norte responded to the Loggers’ explosive first quarter with their own efforts.

Junior running back Caleb Dodson ran in two touchdowns.

Overall he carried a total of 29 times for a total of 133 yards in a solid outing for the offensive player.

The Warriors took the lead on a 16-yard throw from quarterback Cooper Maxwell caught by Kaleb Price, putting the score at 22-20 in their favor.

But Eureka’s players kept fighting well into the final quarter.

On a 4th and 6 play with minutes remaining on the clock, Hayden Bode threw a 42-yard hanger which was caught by Rogan Bode as Del Norte’s defense closed in.

The sophomore’s touchdown run after his reception set the final score at 26-20.

Overall, the sophomore Bode ran his three catches to goal and covered 150 yards in the Loggers’ win.

Eureka High will be facing cross-town rivals St. Bernard’s Academy at the Crusaders’ home turf on Saturday at 1 p.m. On their end, Del Norte High will be hosting Fortuna High on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
