Senior News partners with local libraries
Senior News and Humboldt County’s libraries are partnering to give more Humboldt County residents access to the free monthly community newspaper published by the Humboldt Senior Resource Center.
Beginning with the November issue, “Celebrating Our Veterans,” copies of Senior News will be available at all Humboldt County public libraries and the bookmobile.
“We are delighted to help expand the reach of the Senior News throughout the county,” Library Director Chris Cooper said.
Senior News Editor Ted Pease echoed Cooper’s sentiment. “Senior News is all about making community connections, both among older Humboldters and across generations,” he said. “What better place to come together than the public library?”
Each month, library patrons will find free copies of Senior News at library locations across the county. In addition to the main library in Eureka and branches in Arcata, Fortuna, McKinleyville and Trinidad, Senior News is also available at libraries in Blue Lake, Ferndale, Garberville, the Kim Yerton Memorial Library in Hoopa, Rio Dell, Willow Creek and on the bookmobile.
The library’s mission statement says, “The Humboldt County Library strengthens our community by educating, inspiring and connecting people. Our vision is to help create and support a welcoming, healthy and prosperous community where there are abundant opportunities for learning and creativity.”
“That’s what Senior News does, too,” Pease said.
