Rotarians help those impacted by earthquake

-

With the recent earthquakes and resulting damage in Humboldt County, Rotary District 5130 is again tapping into its Disaster Relief Fund to provide aid to those impacted.

This Relief Fund has provided over $3 million in funding and support for disaster victims throughout local communities and beyond in recent years. All donations to this fund support disaster relief, with zero overhead.

In this recent initiative, Rotarians in Humboldt County have already provided $5,000 in gift cards for the residents in the most affected areas to ensure that the holidays were as happy and pleasant as possible.

Coast Central Credit Union also supported this effort, by covering all of the activation fees for the gift cards.

In addition, Rotary District 5130 Small Business Recovery Grants are available for up to $2,000, for businesses affected by the 6.4 magnitude earthquake on Dec. 20.

Jennifer Strong, the current district governor for District 5130, said, “Rotarians in District 5130 have a long history of stepping up to the plate in quick order to help our communities during fires, floods, and now the recent earthquake in Humboldt County. Our Rotarians know where the needs are and work quickly to help the residents and businesses find some relief and assistance in rebuilding. Our Small Business Grant program has provided millions of dollars over the years, getting the heart of our communities re-opened — our small businesses.”
