This past week, Supervisor Rex Bohn was rumored to have said something “inappropriate” during the Eureka Chamber of Commerce annual dinner auction. Stop laughing. This was brought to the attention of our new woke majority Board of Supervisors, who were deeply offended. The story goes that during the auction, Rex said of the woman who donated a beer prize, “She’ll serve it to you topless.” OMG! The indignation! The hurt! The pain! The suffering! What you’re not hearing is that this woman allegedly shot back at Rex, “Why don’t you serve it in a G-string.” Timeout. I just threw up in my mouth thinking about an old, large, hairy man in a G-string. Sasquatch in a thong ain’t my cup of tea. I guess our local media missed that part.

So now our woke majority on the Board of Supervisors started frothing at the mouth and demanding Rex go on the apology tour before heading off to his reeducation camp at the Humboldt Area Foundation for political correctness. Yes, Rex’s white privilege was showing through. So, now he will now have to take a 100 hours of DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) sensitivity training and write at least ten “I apologize” letters (because the first nine weren’t good enough for the Thought Police), before being released back into society. The Regressives have already reached out to a potential 1st District Ferndale candidate, a legend in his own mind, who is at least smart enough to know that if Rex decides to run for reelection, Rex will win in a landslide and this candidate has zero chance of winning.

Here’s what you’re not getting. Back in 2015, a candidate hit the national scene unlike anything our country has ever experienced. He rode his gold escalator down Trump Tower with Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In the Free World” blaring in the background. He had the campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again,” which was a total ripoff of Ronald Reagan’s 1980 campaign slogan of “Let’s Make America Great Again.” He started the daily (if not hourly) embellishment of the truth (lying) by saying, “There’s thousands of people here.” There were maybe a hundred. He said during his campaign kick-off, “When did we beat Japan at anything?” I guess he never heard of WWII. “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re sending people with lots of problems… They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists.” It went downhill from there. For the next year-and-a-half we heard a daily firehose of free 24/7 media of Trump insulting foreigners, women, disabled people, Asians, Blacks, Jews, and especially Mexicans. What did that get Trump? Trump’s percentage of Hispanic voters increased from 2016 to 2020. Oh, did I mention he was elected president? Yes, he continued saying awful, horrible things and was almost re-elected four years later. His daily lies about “election fraud” led to an insurrection at the Capitol building on Jan 6, 2021. He was impeached by Congress for a second time. Trump was a total embarrassment to this country and today he is the front-runner as the 2024 Republican presidential candidate yet again. Welcome to America.

What am I saying? The vast majority of people are sick and tired of political correctness. What they do care about is paying their rent/mortgage and putting food on the table for their families. They care about getting their roads fixed. They want to see more housing, especially the McKay tract that’s currently 20 years in the process with zero housing so far. They want to see someone dealing pro-actively with the homeless problems and not allowing the homeless to rule our streets. Do you really think the majority of 1st District voters give a damn if Rex said something politically incorrect? Nope. They couldn’t care less.

Rex doesn’t need diversity training or a reeducation camp. What he needs is bubble training. You know those cartoon characters that have a bubble for their thoughts? It’s not words, just thoughts. Maybe the County of Humboldt can give Rex bubble training so that if he has a thought in his head, maybe, just maybe it doesn’t need to come out of his mouth, especially in public, especially if it’s politically incorrect, especially if there are woke progressives with thin skins in the room. Just a thought.
